The World Congress of Mountain Jews was recognized by the United Nations

On November 23, a solemn reception was held at the UN Information Center in Moscow to receive the status of a non-governmental organization and consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council by the World Congress of Mountain Jews.
The World Congress of Mountain Jews was founded in 2003 by Zaur Taylorovich Gilalov, an outstanding businessman and public figure who throughout his life has made great efforts to rally the communities of Mountain Jews all over the world. Now the congress is headed by his brother Akif Gilalov.
With the status of a non-governmental organization and consultative status with ECOSOC, the World Congress of Mountain Jews receives international recognition and will be able to participate in the discussion of such topical issues as observance of human rights and freedoms at the international level.
In the course of the reception, the Director of the United Nations Information Center Vladimir Valeryevich Kuznetsov, the Chairman of the World Congress of Mountain Jews Akif Tairovich Gilalov, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky, as well as the ambassadors of foreign countries accredited in the Russian Federation delivered speeches.
Representatives of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, the city administration, public organizations, government officials, religious leaders of all faiths, plenipotentiary representatives of the republics, as well as art and culture figures were present as guests. The guest of honor was Joseph Davidovich Kobzon and his wife.
During the reception, a video presentation was shown for the film about the founder of the World Congress of Mountain Jews Zaur Tayrovich Gilalove
