Israel Katz honored the memory of the leaders of Chabad

On December 2, on the eve of Shabbat, Transport and Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz, who was on an official visit to the United States, visited one of New York's Jewish cemeteries.

According to the message posted on the minister's Twitter page, Israel Katz (a graduate of the state-religious school) paid tribute to the two Lubavitcher rebbe, the leaders of Chabad, who were buried in New York.

This is the sixth rabbi of Chabad Yosef-Yitzhak Schneerson (1870-1950), as well as his son-in-law and successor, as leader of the Lubavitch Hasidim, Menachem Menedele Shneerson (1902-1994).

Let us note that Yisrael Katz paid tribute to the memory of the world's Jewish leaders at the height of another anti-Semitic campaign in Russia, as well as against the resumption, in this country, of attacks on the world and Russian Chabad.

Recall that the organization of Chabad was established in Russia in the late 18th century. After the Bolshevik repressions of the late 1920s, Chabad leaders left the USSR, and in the years of World War II settled in the United States.

Today, Chabad is engaged in explanatory work, religious and ritual and practical help to Jews, as well as Israeli tourists, in more than 100 countries around the world.
